As a Summer II volunteer, you’ll continue the positive energy and community exchanged that the Summer Session I volunteers brought to the La Casa de Acogida 'Kausakusun", a temporary shelter for survivors of domestic violence. Whether you choose to work directly with the adults, youth, or staff of the organization, your support will be much appreciated as La Casa de Acogida begins its third year of service in San Sebastian.
During the week, you’ll spend time with the families who are currently living at La Casa de Acogida, as well as the women and children who receive legal assistance, counseling, and financial advice from the staff members. You can choose one community project to focus on, or take part in several projects that will be taking place at the same site.
On the weekends, you’ll be able to take advantage of all that the Cusco area has to offer. You can take a trek in to
one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, Machu Picchu, to explore the Sacred Valley, shoot the river
rapids by raft, or take a horse or bike for a spin. Or, perhaps you’ll choose to visit the highest natural lake in the world, Lake Titikaka in Puno.

PROGRAM COST:
($75 REGISTRATION FEE IS WAIVED FOR LONG TERM STAYS, 8+ WEEKS)
1 - PERU 109 HOUSE:
· 2 week stay: $150
· Additional week: $40
(Does not include meals)
2 - HOST FAMILY:
· 2 week stay: $250
· Additional week: $70
(3 meals a day, 7 days per week included)

COST INCLUDES:
- Private bedroom in host home or Peru 109 house
- Three meals a day, seven days a week for the duration of your program (meals are not included for those staying at the Peru 109 house, but kitchen is available)
- Pick up and drop off to/from bus terminal upon arrival/departure in Chimbote
- Local Peru 109 staff on call 24 hours a day in case of emergency for the duration of your stay
DOES NOT INCLUDE:
- Roundtrip International airfare (giving you the chance to use frequent flyer miles or search the internet for the best prices) or Domestic airfare, if any.
- Necessary vaccinations (prior to trip)
